MY STORY
The Heart Behind "Walk It Like I Talk It"
Fitness has always been my go-to to relieve stress, clear my mind, and just have time to myself. It’s my "me time", the space where I can recharge and reconnect with both my body and my thoughts. Walking, in particular, has become an outlet in my journey.
It all started with close friends and us incorporating walks into our fitness routines. We found joy not only in the movement but also in the conversations, the laughter, and the moments of connection through our walks. It was amazing to see how, at the end of a 3-5-mile walk, we still felt good—physically, mentally, and emotionally. It wasn’t just about the distance; it was about the time spent together and the peace we found along the way.
As my personal fitness journey grew, I made walking a key part of my routine. Once or twice a week, I carved out dedicated time to walk alone just me, my music, and the beauty of nature around me. It became my sacred time to disconnect, clear my mind, and talk to God. The release of stress and the mental clarity I gained after each walk was amazing.
While on vacation, I participated in a walking group out of town, and the sense of community and connection I experienced was truly uplifting. It made me realize how powerful a group walk could be not just for fitness, but for building relationships and supporting one another.
That experience stuck with me, and I knew it was time to start my own walking group. "Walk It Like I Talk It" was born from a desire to create a community where people could come together, walk, talk, and connect all while working toward their own fitness goals and mental well-being.
My hope is that this group grows through word of mouth. People telling their friends, and those friends telling others so that we can build a supportive, welcoming community. Together, we’ll walk, talk, and share our journeys, creating a space where fitness, mental clarity, and connection come naturally.
